Choc Creator, the world’s first chocolate 3D printer, has now successfully created a 3D portrait made entirely from chocolate.

Choc Creator was created by Dr. Liang Hao at the University of Exeter in the UK. The Choc Creator is simple to use: Users create a design of their choice using 3D software, melt the chocolate and load the Choc Creator with the melted chocolate, and then upload the file and press “Print.” Then the original design will be 3D printed in chocolate, layer by layer.

“What makes this technology special is that users will be able to design and make their own products," states Dr. Liang Hao.

"The 3D chocolate printer opens up the possibility of a much wider participation, much fuller participation for the consumer in the production process." says Dr. Liang. "In the long term it could be developed to help consumers custom-design many products from different materials but we've started with chocolate as it is readily available, low cost and non-hazardous. There is also no wastage as any unused or spoiled material can be eaten, of course! From reproducing the shape of a child's favourite toy to a friend's face, the possibilities are endless and only limited by our creativity,” Dr. Hao says.

Customers can send an email of their pictures to Choc Creator and can get their chocolate portrait in dark, milk or white chocolate for between £50 ($82.50) and £80 ($132.47). Users can also order the Choc Creator for home use.

The chocolate faces have proven really popular with the customers as they work really well as presents for people." said Christina Zheng, business development director of Choc Edge.

Choc Edge delivers all over the world, so you can order their products no matter where you live.
