- Merlin has been depicted in many books and films, including Disney’s “The Sword in the Stone,” the film, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” and the novel, “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” by Mark Twain (later adapted into a movie called “A Kid in King Arthur’s Court”).
- A main belt asteroid, discovered by Edward L. G. Bowell in 1980, is named after Merlin.
- Merlin was bewitched and imprisoned by the Lady of the Lake.
Gifford states, “Merlin has always been one of my favorite characters, and I wanted to keep his look very traditional. I gave him a more majestic, thoughtful pose in hopes of him coming across as wise and powerful.”
