The Play-DOH 3D printer had me thrilled about the prospect of 3D printing little Play-Doh creations. But after fruitlessly searching to buy the beautiful little machine featuring a print of R2D2 from Star Wars (another incentive), I found out that it was an April Fool’s joke by ThinkGeek. I was tricked!

Although there is a 3D printer, the Hyrel 3D, that can print with Play-Doh, it doesn’t bring out the same child-like glee (I still find squishing Play-Doh satisfying). The Hyrel 3D can also print in clay, plasticine, and ABS or PLA plastics. However, you’re probably not going to have one sitting on your desk at home anytime soon.

In the meantime, I’ll be waiting and hoping that Play-Doh creates its own 3D printer! It’ll make my day and the day of little children everywhere.
